How to check your DA arrears for July and August before the September salary
The arrear amount is simply the difference between the new and the old DA rate, multiplied by your basic pay, multiplied by the number of months for which the revision is retrospective.
For a 3% increase and two months of arrears, the formula is: basic pay multiplied by 0.03 multiplied by 2. An employee with a basic pay of Rs 44,900 will therefore receive Rs 2,694 as arrears.
Employees who received an annual increment on 1 July should use the post-increment basic pay for both months, since the revision and the increment take effect on the same date.
Use the DA calculator in the sidebar of this page to work out your own figure. Arrears are fully taxable in the year of receipt, and relief under section 89 may be claimed if the arrears push you into a higher slab.
