Work-from-home for 15 days a year proposed for employees with disabilities and caregivers
A committee constituted by DoPT has recommended a formal work-from-home entitlement of fifteen days in a calendar year for employees with benchmark disabilities, and for employees who are the sole caregiver of a dependant with a disability or a serious illness.
The recommendation would replace the present arrangement under which such requests are decided case by case at the discretion of the head of office.
The committee has also suggested that ministries identify posts that are suitable for remote working and notify them in advance, so that the entitlement can be operated without disrupting office work.
The report is under examination. Any policy that is finally approved would be issued as an amendment to the Central Civil Services (Leave) Rules.
